| Abstract | The mass media is a very important means of communication in society, including in boarding schools. Al Amanah Islamic Boarding School at Krian, Sidoarjo is a boarding institution that uses the media as a means of communication and learning. It's just modern Islamic boarding school-based system is less able to optimize the media as a tool that is able to communicate in an optimal. This study aimed at making the media as a means of communication and learning for community Al Amanah Islam Boarding School and public. By using qualitative research methods and analysis semiotika Barthes, the results of this study indicate that the residents of boarding schools, especially the students, need a media representative in distributing their communication, good communication between students, communication with the leadership, and communication with the public. This communication is information, knowledge, control, education, and entertainment. Based on these results, the media-shaped magazine needs to be held to be a communicative tool. Therefore, for a magazine that communicative, it is necessary to the suitability of the cultural codes boarding schools with the message conveyed in the media, both visual and verbal messages. |
