Abstract	This paper presents a preliminary analysis of the data collected in the Uniara-INCRA Research (2011), especially from the sample survey conducted in the "Pontal do Paranapanema" (west of Sao Paulo State). Are presented and discussed data on the social infrastructure and residential conditions in the rural settlements of this region, as well as a set of public policies that seek to meet the demand of production, technical support and marketing of settled workers. The infrastructure conditions evidenced pointed out more developed aspects (such as residential electrification and masonry dwellings) still living with distant elements to ensure good living conditions (such as access to improved water and sanitation). It is pointed out also to the existence of public policies that serve the production and marketing, with technical support. However, the effectiveness (coverage) and efficacy (success) of these programs are deficient. Keywords: Social infraestructure; Public policies; Rural development; Land reform.
