Abstract	Objective: To analyze the perception of family caregivers about the contributions of the psychosocial care model to the insertion of family members in the care of users of a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS). Methods: Qualitative study, developed in CAPS II, Pesqueira-PE, between February and March 2015, authorized by CONEP (CAAE: 33110114.5.0000.5203). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four family/ caregivers of users in regular follow-up at CAPS. The interviews’ content was analyzed by discursive textual analysis method. Results: Family caregivers suffer from stigmas and stereotypes addressed to themselves and the patients under their care, including by other relatives, which makes their social reintegration difficult and causes the caregiver to overload. They recognize the therapeutic efficacy of CAPS in comparison to psychiatric hospitals, but consider medication as the foundation of care. Conclusion: The advent of CAPS provided the co-responsibility of the family member in the care of their mental disorder patients.
