| Abstract | EnglishThis paper aims to contribute theoretical and practical relation to tourism and its interconnection with the sport, on the one hand, and present sports tourism as a factor for the development of the Alentejo Region, on the other hand. In a globalized world, or globalized, that arouses passions, by mobilizing identities, reflecting the strategies, as well as the economic interests implicit or explicit, sport constitutes an important dimension of society, which, in its modern forms, it sought to establish and affirm as a universal language and as a cultural model adopted internationally. Tourism has become an undeniable fact of postmodern life, being an indicator of economic development throughout the world. Tourism activity shows trends to increase, now spanning more than the small and restricted elite to whom it was initially reserved, becoming the largest industry in Europe and the world. The importance of tourism is now recognized worldwide. It is one of the main economic sectors, or even the main, in many regions and countries receiving tourism. Regarding its contribution to job creation and wealth, as well as its multiplier effects across other sectors of the economy, the tourism industry takes an increasingly important role in socio-economic development of different countries and tourism regions receivers. Tourism provides interfaces with the sport. For this study we used Social Sciences techniques, sought to review existing literature on sport and tourism, exposing its interconnections and tried to analyse various available instruments of national and regional planning. In terms of results and conclusions, we can affirm that sports tourism can be an important strategy to the development of the Alentejo Region. portuguesO presente trabalho pretende dar um contributo teorico e pratico relativamente ao turismo e a sua interligacao com o desporto, por um lado, e apresentar o turismo desportivo como um fator para o desenvolvimento da Regiao do Alentejo, por outro lado. Num mundo globalizado, ou mundializado, pelas paixoes que suscita, pelas identidades que mobiliza, pelas estrategias que reflete, bem como pelos interesses economicos implicitos ou explicitos, o desporto constitui-se como uma importante dimensao da sociedade, que, nas suas formas modernas, se procurou instituir e afirmar como uma linguagem universal e como um modelo cultural adotado internacionalmente. O turismo tornou-se um facto inegavel da vida pos-moderna, constituindo um indicador de desenvolvimento economico por todo o mundo. A atividade turistica mostra tendencias para aumentar, abrangendo hoje mais do que a pequena e restrita elite a quem estava inicialmente reservada, tornando-se a maior industria da Europa e do mundo. A importância do turismo e hoje reconhecida a nivel mundial. E um dos principais setores economicos, ou mesmo o principal, em muitas regioes e paises recetores de turismo. Tendo em conta a sua contribuicao para a criacao de emprego e riqueza, bem como os seus efeitos multiplicadores ao longo dos outros setores da economia, a industria turistica toma um papel cada vez mais importante no desenvolvimento socioeconomico dos diferentes paises e regioes recetores de turismo. O turismo estabelece interfaces com o desporto. Para este estudo recorremos as tecnicas das Ciencias Sociais, procuramos fazer uma revisao bibliografica sobre o desporto e o turismo, expondo as suas interligacoes, e procuramos analisar diversos instrumentos de planeamento nacional e regional disponiveis. Em termos de resultados e conclusoes, podemos afirmar que o turismo desportivo pode ser uma estrategia importante no desenvolvimento da Regiao do Alentejo. |
