| Abstract | The present investigation is oriented within the framework of the armed conflict in Colombia from 1991 to 2002, to identify the representation and role of the policewomen in this period, the work focuses on this last aspect and through interviews with members of the School of Criminal Investigation of the National Police, press review of the years 1991 to 2002 of the newspaper EL TIEMPO and a theoretical study on the armed conflict, it was possible to determine three initial representations of the policewomen: conservation of femininity, weakness of women and masculinization of policewomen, Attending to the roles that women exercised since their entry to the police institution and their subsequent modifications to roles and representations similar to those of the policeman in favor of the equality of their rights. The way in which the representations and roles of women in the institution were generated led to tactical, strategic and intelligence functions for their infiltration into criminal gangs for the fight against drug trafficking and the capture of drug leaders. |
