| Abstract | Thirty-three coffee genotypes, whose host status to M. exigua had been assessed in other regions in Brazil, were inoculated with a population from Rio de Janeiro state, and evaluated in greenhouse for vegetative development and nematode reproduction. Six months after inoculation, most of the coffee genotypes had not been affected in their development by M. exigua. Twenty-three breeding selections and the cultivars Catuai Vermelho IAC 144, IAC Obata, Catucai 785/15 and Parafso MG H 419-1 were classified as susceptible, while four other selections and the cultivars Iapar 59 and IAC Apoata 2258 were classified as resistant, although presenting nematode reproduction factor of 0.75 and 0.03, respectively. In total, ten breeding selections or cultivars presented host status to M exigua that were distinct from those previously reported, what suggests genetic variability across M. exigua populations in Brazil. |
