| Abstract | A Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) consists of intelligent and small invasive and non-invasive devices which are capable of establishing a wireless communication link. These WBAN devices provide continuous health monitoring and real-time feedback to the medical personnel and user. Furthermore, the measurements can be recorded over a longer period of time, improving the quality health care services. By means of a WBAN, the patient experiences a better physical mobility and is no longer compelled to stay in or visit regularly to the hospital. This paper offers an overview of Wireless Body Area Network concepts such as architecture requirements, organization, challenges, and opportunities. |
