| Abstract | Written literature on medical complaints is relatively scarce. In this article we delve into the psychosocial variables that surround the person as a victim of medical wrongdoing, whether by omission, negligence, ignorance, etc. Furthermore, it also seeks to address how different variables influence the process, including those related to the complainant's personality, their emotional reactions based on the extent of damage, doctor-patient relationship influences on the perception of harm and complain style, when and how negligence or error leave a trauma, what is the significance of this in the complainant's life, and how a psychological trauma can affect the patients' quality of life and their productivity. It also addresses the importance of communication in the prevention of medical complaints and analyzes how the medical act and its consequences can be perceived differently within the same family. It describes a classification of medical errors based on the psychology of injury, making a proposal for reclassification other than that given by the International Journal for Quality in Health Care. |
