Abstract	Our thesis work in progress investigates the cultural relations between societies and winds in north-western Mediterranean. In this work, the concept of ambiance has taken a central role. It allows us to differentiate climatic ambiances that emerge from combined action of physical environment, socio-spatial practice and sensitive experience. Ambiance constitutes a conceptual key to overcome the idea of a confrontation between an independent individual and his opposite environment.
