| Abstract | Colombian law provides alternative mechanisms for conflict resolution, which seek to resolve disputes (either between the same parties or with the help of a third party) and thus reach an agreement without having to start the entire judicial system. In other words, you can present an alternative solution when a dispute arises in different branches of law, but very little is known regarding conflict resolution in environmental matters. Lack of education, the groups outside the law, or improper exploitation of natural resources are some of the major environmental problems that trigger conflict. It is also important to note that the environmental conflict in most cases is accompanied by a social conflict. Ethnic minorities, indigenous reserves and collective territories are settled in areas where unfortunately, are some of the main natural resources increased demand in the global market. The exploitation of these resources, affecting ecosystems and generate a social problem, because in the short term, other resources such as water may be scarce, and this would generate the banishment of these communities, exposing them to new challenges outside their territories, and taking them very likely to integrate shantytowns in different cities of our country. |
