Entre o formal e o real: representações acerca do modelo disciplinar da Fundação CASA de Araraquara

| Abstract | The present work had the objective to analyse and to discuss the disciplinal model practiced in the Unity of Admission of the Foundation Service Social-educative Center to Adolescent – CASA Foundation – ancient state Foundation of the Well-being of the Juvenile – FEBEM – of the local authority of Araraquara, interior of the State of Sao Paulo, by the light of the Theory of the Social Representations of Serge Moscovici. The choice of this Unity happened since this one was considered the model service to an adolescent in conflict with the law inside the Foundation. The analysis of the social representations was ruled in ten understanding interviews carried out with four ex-internal adolescents, four teachers of the formal teaching who acted in the institution, a technical official of the pedagogic area and a member of the direction of the Unity that participated of the dynamic of the institution between the years of 2004 and 2005. Understanding the CASA Foundation like a social institution, we made a discussion about the society in which we lived, boarding the peculiarity of the Brazilian social, political and cultural formation and his ramifications what concerns the means of the youth nowadays; to the questions of the rights of citizenship, human rights and democracy; and to the specific rights of the children and adolescents from the Juveniles' first Code, of 1927 up to the Statute of Child and Adolescent, of 1990. Specifically on the studied institution, we adopt the definition of Total Institution, of Erving Goffman and analyse his functioning from the writings of Michel Foucault about the power, the discipline and the prison, besides presenting three documents that give the directives for the functioning of the Unities of the CASA Foundation, when they were produced by the institution itself and we bring some data on the service executed in the State of Sao Paulo and in the Unity of Araraquara, also produced by the Foundation. From the analysis of the social representations of the interviewed ones, we could realize what are aimed as well as in too many Brazilian institutions and in the respect to the existent legislation, several contradictions between the formal speech and the practices executed in what it refers to the discipline, control and punishment in the interior of the Unity, anchored in the common sense and in the dominant ideology of which such proceedings have a pedagogic character in the sense of adapting the adolescents paid attention to the social standards in force.
