| Abstract | Spinel Li4Ti5Ol2 was successfully prepared by sol-gel processing using acetylacetone as chelating ligand, and polyethylene glycol as template. The morphology, phase structure and electrochemical performance of Li4Ti5Ol2 were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and charge-discharge tests. It was found that sub-micron pure spinel Li4Ti5Ol2 was obtained upon calcination at temperature of 700°C over three hours, which exhibits very good cycling life with an initial specific discharge capacity of 169 mAh g. When tested at a rate of 0.2C, 0.5C, 1C, and 2C, it still retained a discharge capacity of 164 mAh g, 141 mAh g, 132 mAh g, 110 mAh g, respectively, after 50 cycles, indicating that this anode material also has an excellence high-rate performance. The Electrochemical mechanism of li-ion insertion/extraction was also investigated by Cyclic voltammetry (CV). |
