| Abstract | As a result of intensive transformation of landscape and the unsustainable use of resources, tropical regions have become a mosaic of different land uses fragments separated by forest. In Colombia the transformation and land abandonment has led to large areas of secondary forest and stubble. It is unknown if the stubble and secondary forests in the Bogota Savannah are resilient and have high or low potential for regeneration, or if recovery occurs with convergence towards the original forest. This study sought to answer the question: What is the regeneration potential of stubbles and secondary forest residues present in various landscape contexts near Bogota? Were mounted six permanent plots in the municipalities of Guatavita (LoteJuan) and Guasca (Encenillo), two in each forest type: Stubble (R), secondary forest (BS) and mature forest (BM). For each plot data were obtained structure, composition, richness, dominance and floristic similarity trees assembly s adults, juveniles and seedlings, to evaluate its regeneration potential. There were differences in structure, composition, richness and similarity among the three forest types. The plots of R and BS had higher density sticks, with a tendency to be thin, and BM had fewer sticks with a greater thickness. BM plots of R mature and had higher species richness. There was also differential species dominance in all forest types. The juveniles, seedlings and adult R plots resembled each other more, while the life stages of BM and BS were not so similar, showing a gradient of floristic composition in the plots of Encenillo (BS and BM) suggesting dynamic parts of greater than in LoteJuan (R). The species found in R plots suggest that regenerating slowly, while the similarity between seedlings and adults of BM BS indicates a favorable regeneration plots in Encenillo BS. To know with certainty the regeneration potential of crop residues and secondary forests studied, it is necessary to expand and get future sampling soil analysis data and aerial photographs, which allow a better understanding of the context of the regeneration of these plant communities. |
