Abstract	Em resposta a necessidade sentida pelo municipio de informacao referente as praticas do aleitamento materno exclusivo com vistas ao planejamento em saude, realizou-se estudo com o objetivo de analisar a distribuicao espacial do indice de aleitamento materno e aleitamento materno exclusivo em criancas menores de 6 meses na area urbana de Bauru e a relacao com indicadores economicos da populacao do municipio Foram entrevistadas 509 maes ou acompanhantes de criancas menores de 6 meses que compareceram no Dia Nacional de Vacinacao no ano de 2006. Para identificar a distribuicao espacial das criancas em aleitamento materno e aleitamento materno exclusivo, foram elaborados produtos cartograficos de distribuicao espacial utilizando o mapa do municipio de Bauru, dividido por bairros e agrupamento de bairros...(AU) This study was done to fulfill the need for information for health planning concerning exclusive breastfeeding. It aimed the analyses of the spatial distribution of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding of children under 6 month in the urban area of Bauru city, in Brazil. Data were linked to the people income indexes. In this sense 509 mothers or sitters of under 6 month children attending the 2006 National Vaccination Day, were interviewed.
