| Abstract | Patients with kidney failure require haemodialysis. Its most desirable form of vascular access is the arterio-venous fistula. We established, an investigation protocol that simulates blood flow in typical vessels using the CT angio-scanner imaging modality. In this study we focused on the simulation reliance for complex and realistic vessels. We compared and optimized different meshing combinations (hexahedron, hybrid), considering different criteria (mesh quality, velocity profile, wall shear stress) applied to the simplified geometry. Later on we applied the obtained criteria on the complex geometry to associate the obtained mechanical simulation results with the vascular physiological characteristics issued from the imaging modality.
