| Abstract | Mentha is common named (Mentha Longifolia L. ( belongs to Lamiaceae family. Grows as wild in various regions of Iran. The aerial parts of plant collected from two provinces of Iran were analyzed by using GC/MS. The 37 and 33 compounds were identified in dried aerial parts Isfahan and Lorstan province, respectively. The major components in Karkas mountain, Isfahan province were; 1,8-Cineole (15.58%), Piperitenone oxide (15.05%), Pulegone (9.58%) and Sabinen (9.52%). The major components in Gahar, Lorstan province were; p-Mentha-3,8-diene (10.531%), 2,6- Dimethyl-2,4,6-oc tatriene (10.132%), Sabinene (6.98%), β-Caryophyllene (6.971%), Piperitone oxide (6.77%) and Pulegone (6.60%). In conclusion, ecotypes collected from Isfahan province showed higher amounts of the components than Lorestan. Therefore, selection from ecotypes belong to Isfahan province have higher genetic gain than Lorestan ecotype. |
