| Abstract | This volume’s essays suggest significant ways in which social movements contribute to Catholic social thought beyond service as “carriers” of the tradition.2 Theopolitical imagination is often understood as the construal of “space-times” that challenge secular political realities or the status quo as historically contingent.3 Certainly lived and theoretical Catholic social thought are poised to do so as they summon and enact solidarity and forgiveness over reigning practices of exclusion and retribution. I wish to suggest here ways in which the witness of the movements challenges Catholic social thought itself at the levels of formulation and application. |
