| Abstract | Irrigation management in early growth of the plant it is essential for a good vegetative growing, since, under conditions of low water availability, the plant may be impaired by the decrease of their morphological characters. Based on the foregoing, one experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions in the experimental area of the weather station of the Department of Agricultural Engineering belongs to the University Federal of Ceará (UFC), with the objective of evaluating the effect of different levels of replacement of evapotranspiration potential of culture (ETpc) on the initial growth of the coconut (Cocos nucifera L.), white dwarf. The experiment was conducted under statistical randomized block design with five treatments and six replications. The treatments consisted of different levels of water deficit by imposing five different percentage replacement of water losses by evapotranspiration of the crop ETpc (D1: 100% ETpc; D2: 80% of ETpc; D3: 60 % of ETpc; D4: 40% D5 ETpc and 20% of ETpc). The morphological variables were plant height, the diameter, number of leaves and leaf area. Overall, the results showed that the increase in water availability promotes linear growth in all traits (plant height, stem diameter and leaf area), except for the characteristic number of leaves that showed a quadratic behavior against the imposition of different blades. |
