Abstract	Abstrak Kejayaan dan kegemilangan yang telah berjaya dicapai oleh rantau Alam Melayu terutamanya di bawah kepimpinan kerajaan Islam memang tidak dapat dinafikan sehingga telah berjaya membina sebuah tamadun Melayu-Islam yang tersendiri. Kedatangan serta proses penyebaran ajaran Islam di rantau ini telah menjadi titik tolak kepada kemajuan, perkembangan serta penyatuan tamadun Melayu-Islam. Namun begitu, apakah kekuatan yang dimiliki oleh ajaran Islam tersebut sehingga dapat menjadi asas kepada pembentukan sebuah tamadun Melayu-Islam tersebut. Oleh itu, kajian ini dilakukan bagi mengenal pasti sumbangan kitab Jawi sebagai salah satu komponen utama yang dijadikan panduan oleh pemerintah serta masyarakat Melayu selepas kedatangan Islam dalam membina asas kepada pembentukan sebuah tamadun yang gilang gemilang di rantau ini. Kajian ini akan memfokuskan terhadap elemen-elemen penting yang terdapat dalam kitab Jawi tersebut sebagai korpus ilmu dalam membangunkan world-view serta pemikiran saintifik, ilmiah serta rasional dalam minda masyarakat Melayu yang telah sekian lama dibelenggu oleh gejala mistik, tahayul dan pemikiran berbentuk feudalisme. Oleh itu, hasil kajian ini mendapati bahawa kitab Jawi sememangnya boleh dianggap sebagai asas penting dalam pembinaan sebuah tamadun Melayu-Islam di rantau ini. Abstract The glory and success achieved by the Malay World region, especially under the leadership of the Muslim Sultanate, is undeniable until it has succeeded in building a distinct Malay-Islam civilization. The arrival and process of propagating Islamic teachings in the region has been a turning point for the progress, development and consolidation of Malay-Islam civilization. However, what is the secrets that lie behind the Islamic teachings so that it can be the basis for the formation of this civilization. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the contribution of the ‘kitab Jawi’ (Jawi books) as one of the main guideline to the ruler and the Malay community after the advent of Islam in building the foundation for the formation of a glorious civilization in the region. This study will focus on the essential elements contained in the kitab Jawi as a corpus of knowledge in developing world-view as well as scientific and rational thinking in the minds of the Malay community which have been long been plagued by mystical, superstitious and feudal-minded phenomena. Thus, this study found out that the kitab Jawi can indeed be regarded as an important foundation in the construction of a Malay-Islamic civilization in this region.
