| Abstract | This paper addresses an important issue on the spreading bandwidth of direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) cellular mobile radio systems: does wider spreading bandwidth provide larger capacity? And if so, to what extent? The capacity of the perfect power controlled reverse link is evaluated by computer simulation for 1.25MHz and 5MHz spreading bandwidths under various sets of propagation channel parameters (path loss decay factor, shadowing standard deviation, shadowing correlation, number of resolved propagation paths) and antenna diversity reception. key words: DS-CDMA, mobile radio, capacity, spreading band- |
