| Abstract | In archaeology we lack studies which aim at analysing and registering different sex-gender systems. Although there seems to be consensus that all societies of certain socio-economic level are patriarchal, we still have a lot to understand from them (features, developments, differences, etc.). The purpose of this preliminary study is to test two “inequality indicators” in iconographic sources of the Aegean Bronce Age. Those indicators are the concept of body and sex status. The frescoes of Knossos and Akrotiri are revised with regard to the grade of inequality that the paintings show. The result reveals that the elites from Knossos and Akrotiri are not sexually stratified. Palabras Clave: Sistema sexo-género. Knossos. Akrotiri. Frescos |
