Abstract	Based on the results obtained in this study, we conclude that the studied population presented as risk factors for the onset of diabetic foot: advanced age; DM diagnosis time; low education level; inadequate diet; diagnosis of hypertension; eye problems; physical inactivity; inadequate metabolic control; and lack of specific foot care. We also identified as a weakness of the study the fact that patients who were referred to specialties such as Vascular Surgery, Dermatology, Nutrition, Cardiology and Endocrinologist, as Protocol of the Health Secretariat should first pass to the General Physician, and this make the request, this way. Thus, patients should await consultation with the Generalist and later appointments for specialties.
