| Abstract | Wireless communication links are often coupled by interference (e.g. smart antenna beamforming system with overlapping beams or non-orthogonal CDMA). It is thus desirable to include physical layer aspects and power control in the quality-of-service model. But this complicates the task of resource allocation. In this paper, we investigate the problem of weighted proportional fairness for log-convex interference functions. By introducing the concept of a dependency matrix, we characterize the coupling between interference functions. This facilitates conditions for the existence of a proportionally fair operating point. We also show under which condition an optimizer exists and we provide a sufficient condition for uniqueness of this optimizer. |
