| Abstract | New archaeological evidence for the study of Bronze Age communities in the eastern Iberian Peninsula: the settlement of Terlinques (Villena, Alicante). Presented here is a preview of the results of fifteen seasons of field work, undertaken between 1997 and 2011 at the site of Terlinques (Villena, Alicante). Terlinques is a Bronze Age settlement located in the Villena Basin in the Alto Vinalopó Valley. Around a third of its total surface has been investigated, revealing the site’s long sequence of occupation, from the late third millennium to the middle of the second millennium cal BC. The field work has provided evidence of three successive phases, during which important architectural and urban changes occurred. The most significant took place around 1750 cal BC, when a radical transformation of the urban plan and substantial changes in the distribution of activity areas occurred. Finally, we put forward an explanation of the historical processes that were taking place at the time of the settlement of Terlinques, describing the intersocietal relations between the Argaric Group, of the Bajo Segura y Bajo Vinalopó valleys and the Southern Valencian Pre-Betic Group, which this site was part of. k e y w o r d s : Bronze Age, Vinalopó Valley, historical process, settlement, activity areas.
