| Abstract | In urban areas, the municipal parks are refuges of nature that contribute for the preservation and perpetuation of biodiversity. A survey of the epiphytic orchids was carried out in two Mixed Humid Forest fragments, one located at Parque Municipal da Ronda (PMR) , in Sao Francisco de Paula and the other at Parque dos Pinheiros (PP) , in Farroupilha and a third fragment of Semidecidual Seasonal Forest, at Parque Municipal Henrique Luiz Roessler (Parcao) , in Novo Hamburgo, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The surveys were realized during the period of January 2007 to January 2008. A total of 33 species representing 16 genera were identified. The genus Oncidium has presented the highest richness (6) considering all the study areas. PMR has presented the largest number of species (23), followed by PP (22) and Parcao with seven species. The presence of Cattleya intermedia Graham threatened species of extinction in Rio Grande do Sul was registered at Parcao . The vertical distribution of the species and their flowering period are presented. The results of the floristic compositions were compared among the sites and with other studies developed in the State. |
