| Abstract | In the context of search for improvements, the present work addresses issues related to losses and wastes, conceptualizing the supply chain; Understanding the types of losses; approaching the lean production system and the DMAIC methodology, with the aid of a theoretical revision. The case study conducted in a food industry can be done, with an identification of Glucose Syrup losses in its transfer process. A reduction of 50% of the losses was then sought, with a detailed analysis of the process. The DMAIC methodology and tools such as Cause and Effect Diagram and Pareto Diagram were used to identify three points of loss in the process. With proposed waste reduction, it was estimated to apply, would result in a reduction of approximately 87% of waste. Thus, the enhancement project is presented as feasible. |
