| Abstract | The purpose of this research was to identify the pedagogical practices that teachers in the area of mathematics use to teach their students and thus propose teaching strategies that help improve results and levels of failure. For this purpose, a qualitative approach was used, under an empirical phenomenological design and the main information tools were the interview with two teachers and three students from a public educational institution. It was investigated from the pedagogical practice because it is there where the teacher can observe everything used in the classroom and ask if the results obtained are really what they wanted, so this research raised 3 categories: Pedagogical practices, mathematics teaching and didactics of mathematics. Analyzing the information obtained, it was found that practices with traditionalist tendencies persist and contents are still evaluated, there is also a very important factor that affects this teaching-learning process in the school context and the lack of commitment of the members. Although there is little initiative on the part of teachers to seek other spaces to create new knowledge, teachers show their concern to know in each of their students their way of learning |
