| Abstract | Digestibility essays were carried out at UNESP-Botucatu in order to study the effects of wilting (A) and of the addition of different rates of cassava meal (B=0; C=2; D=4; E=8 and F=12%) to elephant grass silage. Experimental responses evaluated were: intake per unit of metabolic weight, digestibility coeficients, nutritive value and N balance. It was used a complete randomized block design with four replications. There was no significant difference (P>0.05) between wilting cassava meal rates for intake, digestibility coeficient, crude protein, crude fiber, organic matter, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber, hemicellulose and nutritive value. There was, however, a significant difference (P<0.05) for the digestibility coeficient of nitrogen free extract in treatments D, E and F and for N balance in treatments B, D, E and F. The addition of cassava meal during the silage making process of Efephant grass did not improve dry matter intake and digestibility in comparison with the wilted grass. |
