| Abstract | The focus on maternal and prenatal health is a national priority. In the state of Oaxaca targeted actions are directed to pregnancy care which is the physiological status of women that begins with fertilization and ends with labor and the child’s birth. For this reason, using lines of action like air ambulances, training, etc., the state of Oaxaca has reduced the maternal mortality ratio in 2013 and 2014, ranking sixth2 and ninth3 place at the national level, respectively. However, in 2013 there was an unassisted childbirth outside of optimal medical and health conditions, that’s why the National Health Council agreed that the states devise strategies aimed at Zero Obstetric Rejection. This paper reflects, using a cross-sectional study conducted in 2014, the current status of 52 medical units of primary care for the implementation of this Strategy. The results identify areas of opportunity mainly in three health districts (Costa, Tuxtepec and Central Valleys) for the care of normal deliveries with the active participation of all involved parties. The present study proposes to implement the Zero Obstetric Rejection Strategy in 33 medical units that met the physical and technical requirements. |
