| Abstract | Objective: Evaluate the knowledge of health professionals working in the Intensive Care Unit on procedures for nutritional therapy and incidence of incompatibilities between drugs administered concomitantly with parenteral and enteral nutrition. Method: A transversal descriptive study. A questionnaire was given to health professionals (n=50) of a general hospital in Brasilia, including: nurses, doctors, pharmacists, nutritionist and nursing technicians. Results: 31 (62%) have worked for more than 10 years, 16 (32%) reported having received training to work in nutritional therapy and 31 (62%) feel prepared technically, 39 (78%) reported not knowing about incompatibilities between drugs and nutrients; 29 (58%) have no knowledge about incompatibilities. Conclusion: ICU professionals recognized the need for improvement in nutritional therapy to improve patient safety and minimize the risks to which they are subjected when dealing with nutritional therapy. |
