| Abstract | Background. The outpatient surgery has been consolidated as the main structure of managing surgical pathology adding more responsibility to the anesthesiologist. Methods. A comparative randomized study was done between the months of November 20 08 to June 2010 in patients among the ages of 20 to 60 years old with a weight between of 50 to 100kg that were programmed for outpatient surgery for gallstones using the laparoscopic surgery at the CIMEQ Hospital. The patients were divided in two groups o f 25 each. The procedure used on the first group (group one) was the l aryngeal mask airway Proseal and on the second group (group two) the endotracheal intubation. Results. The insertion of the laryngeal mask airway Proseal was accomplished in the first tr y in 46 patients (92%) and the insertion of the endotracheal tube was accomplished on the first try in 44 patients (88%). The mean arterial pressure, the cardiac rhythm during the insertion of the device and the surgical incision as well as the anesthetics requirements and complication were minor with significant differences (P<0,05) in group one. Higher flexibility to transfer controlled ventilation patients to group one. Conclusions. The laryngeal mask airway Proseal can be considered as an alternative to the endotracheal intubation in patients subjected to a laparoscopic cholecystectomy. |
