Abstract	This paper presents geomorphological mapping of the municipality of Manoel Viana, located in the western Rio Grande do Sul, which has significant surfaces processes as gullies and sandy. The main objective of this study is to analyze and characterize the geomorphological units the municipality in taxonomic levels, working on different scales of analysis and mapping. The methodology used was the Geographic Information Systems for analysis and manipulation of data, including thematic mapping, field surveys and laboratory analysis. The municipality of Manoel Viana is characterized by presenting a variation of that entered by the depression peripheral of the RS and Serra Geral plateau with the definition of standards and forms of relief defined as: soft sandstone hills, isolated knoll and cornices of the sandstone, alluvial colluvial ramps, alluvial colluvial ramps of the Ibicui, hillock and hills of the volcanic rocks. The geomorphological analysis presents the key elements to managing the environment and, therefore, is an indispensable tool for environmental planning.
