Abstract	Integrated and rational management of plastics recovered from the stream of municipal wastes poses a serious problem. The issue considered so far as a local problem got a global meaning. Poland, just like other European Union countries, fights with the problem of complex management of fast growing amounts of these wastes, often deposited in illegal landfills. The article deals with the issues related to the management system of plastic wastes from the municipal sector. The purpose of the article is to try to present directions of plastic wastes management with the goal to gradually eliminate their depositing. The article presents information concerning production, demand and recovery level of plastic wastes in Poland and Europe.
