| Abstract | This article analyzes EFL course book presentations located in teachers’ manuals, which are written by either the authors or the editors. The analysis of the discourse is based on Systemic-Functional Linguistics. In this study, EFL course books are seen as social elements with pedagogic, political, economic and social importance, rather than just a language teaching instrument, and the analysis is guided by this view. The findings reveal that, while there is the objective of simply presenting the collection, beyond this, the course book is attributed the role of agent in the EFL teaching and learning process. |
