| Abstract | 215 Abstract The Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problems in power generation systems is to reduce the fuel cost by re ducing the total cost for the generation of electric power. This pape r presents an efficient Novel TANAN’s Algorithm (NTA), for solving ELD Problem. The main objective is to minimize the tota l fuel cost of the generating units having quadratic cost characte ristics subjected to limits on generator true power output a nd transmission losses and including valve point loadi ng effects. The NTA is a simple numerical approach based on a parabo lic TANAN function. This paper presents an application of NTA to ELD for different IEEE standard test systems. ELD is app lied and compared with various optimization techniques. The s imulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms previous optimization methods. |
