| Abstract | The objective of this work is to propose a procedure for a solution on the facilities layout, in a way that the non adjacent facilities can be interconnected by aisles. The collected data are: flux matrix, facility areas and its respective aspect ratio. The models found in the literature describing the problem and its proposed methods for solution are presented in the bibliography review. The proposed model considers three distinct steps. In the first step, through the multivariate analysis technique, a slicing tree structure is constructed to place facilities with large traffic volumes close together. In the second step, using a genetic algorithm, a slicing tree was determined to minimize the moment of transport between the facilities and to maximize its aspect ratio. In the last step, from a good layout without aisle obtained with the use of the two previous steps, the necessary adjustments for the introduction of the aisles were made in order to interconnect non adjacent facilities. Several problems can be solved with the proposed model, and the obtained results are compared with those obtained from other sources. |
