| Abstract | Abstract In this paper, we are able to sharpen Hua's classical result by showing that each sufficiently large integer N ≢ 1 ( mod 3 ) can be written as N = p + p 1 2 + p 2 2 + p 3 2 + p 4 2 , with | p − N 5 | ⩽ N 5 U , | p j − N 5 | ⩽ U , j = 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , where U = N 41 100 + e and p , p j are primes. This result improves a previous result with U = N 41 100 + e replaced by U = N 5 11 + e . |
