Abstract	The main objective of this paper is to contribute to the achievement of a better and increased knowledge on the exercise of leadership, with the aim of improving the management of the quality of distance education, and its diffusion in society as an innovation. In the first part, some basic and relevant concepts to achieve the above mentioned objective are defined. In the second part, we discuss how those concepts relate between them and integrate in a framework to promote the development of an effective leadership in managing the quality of distance education as an innovation.
