| Abstract | Sepsis is the leading cause of mortality and a major healthcare concern worldwide [1]. It is characterized as a life-threatening disease, enhanced by a dysregulated immune host response to a precipitating infection. It’s a multifaceted disease, encompassing various organs and may lead to endorgan failure, shock and death. In a healthy human being the pro-inflammatory response triggered by microbes is countered by the body’s anti-inflammatory mechanism; however, during sepsis this mechanism gets dysregulated, leading to organ failure. |
