Abstract	This essay aims to understand the importance of Spain´s cooperation in terms of the different tools and innovative projects that have been implemented in the water and sanitation rural sector in Colombia, specifically in the department of La Guajira, through the Fondo de Cooperacion para Agua y Saneamiento (FCAS) of the Agencia Espanola de Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarrollo AECID); reviewing the approaches and instruments of the planning and implementation, as well as the analysis of the results, giving general recommendations focused on further developing the articulation with the Sustainable Development Goals.
