| Abstract | Since 2005 various collective activities were developed in Lagoa Grande Settlement, Dourados, MS (22 ° 05 'S and 55 ° 15' W, 430 m altitude). These activities were coordinated by Embrapa Agropecuária Oeste, and they aimed to arouse the people interest in the need for productive activities diversification, coupled with conservation and environmental improvement. This microregion is part of Cerrado, with the predominance of Typic Quartizipsamment. The different local actors viewing the agroforestry systems (SAFs) under agroecological basys as a promising option. Since then several initiatives of designs and implantations of agroforestry were implemented, but there was no knowledge of the state of the art of these ecosystems. Thus, this study aimed to assess and systematize experiences with agroforestry in production units in family-based in the settlement. It was verified that 16.5% of the families implanted agroforestry in their lots surrounding their residences. It was also observed that families understood the importance of crop diversity. Finally, it was found 47 shrub and herbaceous species cultivated for food production. Among these, one specie is present in 100% of agroforestry (lettuce), five in 87.5% (banana, coffee, parsley, cowpea and chives), four in 75% (papaya, cassava, common bean and tomato), two in 62.5% (annatto and pumpkin-sweep), eight in 50% (passion fruit, carrots, endive, kale, arugula, watermelon, pepper and paprika), two in 37.5% (beet and cilantro), eleven in 25% (pea, cherry, sugarcane, chicory, cabbage, pineapple, chayote, green beans, passion fruit, rice and corn) and forteen in 12.5% (yam, Mestranda do Curso de Biologia Geral/Bioprospecção da Faculdade de Ciências Biológicas e Ambientais da Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados FCBA/UFGD, Dourados, MS.
