| Abstract | This study investigates the reality of physical education in the early years of primary education in a school of the state public school system in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, where, according to current legislation, the physical education classes are taught by a teacher called unidocente. The objective was to verify the routine of physical education classes from the perception of teachers regarding the use of playful and recreation as contributing procedures for motor development of children. The participants were six teachers of early, aged thirty-seven and fifty years, trained in undergraduate courses. As data collection instrument was used a questionnaire with open and closed questions, so this way it was possible to determine the routine of physical education classes in school. The results showed that the procedures investigated in the research are essential to the development of children during the school day and that teachers understand the importance of the recreational use and recreation for motor development, affective and cognitive also students. |
