| Abstract | The LIF signal for Xe II, with excitation at 680.570 nm. There is more to this signal than what meets the eye. This signal can be used to calculate ion velocity distribution functions (ivdf). Figure 3: Xenon II and molecular iodine fluorescence as a function of detuning frequency from the line center. Taking the FWHM of the signal (587 MHz) as Doppler Broadening, one estimates the ion thermal temperature to be 450K, roughly the wall temperature of the chamber. |
