| Abstract | Currently, emerging pollutants (EC) are a topic of interest, because they are compounds of chemical origin and nature other than conventional ones that are not eliminated in the different processes in wastewater treatment plants. These have gone unnoticed by the low concentrations in which they are found and that is why there were no analytical techniques that will detect them, nor regulations that regulate them. In addition to this, the problem generated by emerging pollutants in human health and the impacts it generates on the environment is not known in great depth. Among the emerging pollutants, we find triclosan that is used in a wide variety of personal care products and caffeine that is generally used in energy drinks that in turn are expelled through urine, drains and pipes that eventually end up in the waters domestic residuals. Therefore, not being eliminated in the treatment plants, these pollutants represent threats to human health such as cancer and depression, in terms of environmental damage there is soil contamination, death of amphibious species, among others. In this work, three treatments are carried out, such as conventional SODIS, SODIS/TiO2 and the combination of a reactor with a UV lamp to which the sample is incorporated together with TiO2. Once each of the different treatments is carried out, it is evident that the most representative treatment for caffeine attenuation corresponds to the second, since the COT represents a decrease as well as in the SUVA values of 2.3 mg / L in an exposure time of 6 hours at a temperature of 19 ° C. |
