| Abstract | Parts of the automotive industry and scientists who aim to realise autnomous ve-hicles have both reported that the interaction between autonomous vehicles and hu-man trafficants will be complex. The need to look to humans in the continuing de-velopment of autonomous vehicles is thus at the very least bicipital. The goal of this study is to examine peoples’ subjective reports considering what behaviour in traffic they deem desirable, undesirable and unacceptable. The aim here is to take the first step in surveying these behaviours while also evaluating a possible tool for future studies. This is achieved using focus groups and an online questionnaire (N = 134). The results show that there probably are desirable and undesirable behaviours in traffic with a higher degree of consensus in the population. The re-sults also indicate that there seems to be a moral component to these behaviours that can be evaluated using A Social Cognitive Model of Moral Judgement and Di-sagreement to decide if consensus will be larger for a given behaviour. |
