| Abstract | Eyewitnesses often must try to identify the responsible of a crime in an identification lineup. The main decision they must take is if the author of the action is present or not in the lineup. Nevertheless, if the option I don´t know is explicitly included, mistaken identities are reduced (Koehnken & Maass, 1988; Sporer, 1992). In real situations, it is usual the simultaneous presentation of the lineup. But, with sequential presentation, wrong identifications are reduced, maintaining the level of correct identifications (Lindsay, Lea, Nosworthy, Ful ford. Hector, Le Van & Seabrook, 1991; Lindsay & Wells, 1985). Unappropriated selection of distractors may raise the possibility of identifying an innocent person, therefore evaluating the lineup before presenting to an eyewitness may be guide by his stereotypes of delinquents when identificating if the sight of the author is unprecise |
