| Abstract | This thesis has as main objective the development of a System Optical Mark Recognition which improve the surveys processing, using theories, techniques and algorithms of Digital Image Processing (PDI). The research aims to provide adaptable solution to reading and scanning tasks of surveys, following the phases of PDI, beginning with the capture and image acquisition in a digital photocopier, then for the pre-processing, were implemented algorithms of contrast enhancement, binarization, rotation and noise reduction, this stage to helped with the segmentation, in which an ad-hoc algorithm was applied, afterwards in the description phase was used the technique of description of regions by area, finally in the recognition, statistical pattern recognition technique is applied. The implemented system includes robustness to variability of surveys formats with closed questions and singular answers and / or multiple, reducing processing time and increasing the reliability of the information processed. The analyzed surveys were provided by the Chamber of Commerce of La Libertad, with a proposed format by the authors of this research. In fact, the results obtained were satisfactory, because got an efficiency of 92.76% and the average processing time per survey was obtained was 2,852 seconds |
