| Abstract | Objective: To determine the effectiveness and consistency among three models of clinical identification in a particular population, when compared against the blood culture. Methods: The scale NOSEP-1 was selected in accordance with the criteria of the American College of Chest Physicians and the criteria of the International Pediatric Sepsis Consensus Conference. We evaluated the percentage of matching tests. The validity was assessed with sensitivity, specificity, predictive values and quotients of verisimilitude. Results: A total of 201 patients with suspected sepsis were evaluated. There was a greater consistency, sensitivity and quotients of verisimilitude of the scale NOSEP-1. Conclusion: It has been shown that with the criteria used, the 100% of values can not be get. Despite that data should be treated with caution, finding predictive values of less than 50% is cause for concern, implying that no evidence should be used to establish the suspicion of sepsis. |
