| Abstract | Solid waste generation occurs at any activity, such as domestic, industrial, commercial, rural, or other, because producing or consuming any product, there is waste generation. Therefore, if them are bad managed, can cause significant environmental problems. For the metal mechanical industries, specifically for the automotive industry, the solid waste is an issue of particular concern, because of the variety and volume generated, and also the potential environmental impacts associated to them. In this context, this work proposes to implement a Waste Management Plan in a metal mechanical industry. Thus, aims to identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and the establishment of segregation forms, packaging and temporary storage that promotes forms of reuse, recycling and other shipping appropriate destinations and associated improvements. First it was performed the diagnosis and mapping of the production process currently developed by the company and the identification of waste generated in each step. After that, the more critical residues to manage, in order to help the development of the Industrial Solid Waste Management Plan (ISWMP or, in Portuguese, PGRSI), were identified through the prioritization tool, GUT Matrix. Then, the proposed ISWMP were implemented. As a result of the work, it was performed a comparative analysis between before and after implementation of the proposed Plan, demonstrating the gains as the minimization of waste generated and reduction of waste disposal costs. |
