| Abstract | This is a descriptive and qualitative study based on the perceptions of the spouses of women with a history of breast cancer who lives in Divinopolis, Minas Gerais, in order to know the partners’ feelings about the natural process of disease, treatment and cure. The content analysis from partners’speeches has resulted in five categories: feelings experienced during natural process of disease, living with a partner submitted to mastectomy, the belief in the progress of science, trust in the health team and faith to support the course from disease to cure. The spouses impact of the disease included the presence of mixed feelings as fear, sadness, hope, faith and joy, according to each step of the experience. The results encourage the development of strategies to support these partners and family members on maintaining the family basis in order to ensure a good progress of treatment and cure for these women. |
